FREE Software Code Escrow for everyone!
At The Code Registry we believe we should use our unique platform and architecture to offer users around the world unique features and ways to manage and look after their most important digital assets – their code.
After some interesting calls with advisors and customers about the Software Code Industry business, we did some research and realised that we were already offering our customers 90% of what existing software code escrow companies already offer – without even meaning to!
So it was an obvious next action to review if we could offer something to users to help them securely backup and escrow their code. But what if… we could offer it for free?
After much more research and long technical discussions we realised – due to how our architecture is setup – that we could!
So now anyone in the world can sign-up for free for a Software Code Escrow account, which will:
- Allow you to backup & escrow your code in our scalable, secure infrastructure – free forever
- View your code escrow certificate
- Share your code escrow certificate with any other party via unique URL
- Download your code escrow certificate as a PDF to be shared
- Transfer your escrowed code vault with anyone in the world by entering the recipient’s email address
- E.G. after completing the sale of a software asset
- Upgrade your account to a paid subscription, and then upgrade your escrow code vault into a full code vault with a simple button click
- Your vault will then be re-analysed with our full code intelligence and insights platform
We’re excited to finally get this live and help users get the peace of mind that their critical digital assets are securely backed up and escrowed.
New Distribution Partner portal
We’ve expanded on our existing official Distribution Partner API to offer a portal where distribution partners for The Code Registry can view all of the code vaults they’ve created via our API..
They can also manage their API keys from here themselves, and view a full history of API calls and responses.
We’re dedicated to improving the experience of distribution partners as they are an important part of our future growth!
Other changes
Improvement to how the productivity data is stored for single developers
The new productivity dashboard does a lot of pretty heavy and complex queries and analysis of data. We’ve made some improvements around how this data is stored and analysed to improve performance.
Automatically re-generate AI insights if they’re missing
Because we’re generating a pretty high volume of AI insights – which are numerous, short requests to our LLM integration – sometimes they fail.
It can be due to temporary network issues, or rate limits or sometimes just random glitches.
Now when we review code vault data before generating PDF reports, if any of these insights are missing we re-generate them then try generating the reports again.
Other changes
Bug fixes
- Fixed a bug where the “Show changes over time” buttons wouldn’t always show at the project level on the metrics dashboard
- Fixed a layout bug when there are too many licenses to show on summary and metrics dashboard widgets
- Fixed an issue on the new productivity dashboard which caused productivity yearly trend charts to show as blank if the scores were all 100
- Fixed some layout issues on the productivity pages with very long author names or too much commit data when viewing a single author
- Fixed a bug where security issue AI input (suggested fix, explanation of the issue etc) was using the wrong LLM provider
- Fixed a bug where our code replicator requests to download code archive files (i.e. .zip, .tar files etc) were being rejected by some web servers
- Fixed a bug when your session expires and the next request is an AJAX (behind the scenes data query) one, you get redirected there after logging in instead of a user-friendly page
